The European eGovernment Action Plan 2016-2020 was adopted by the Commission on 19 April 2016.
The Commission Decision to set-up an eGovernment Action Plan Steering Board was adopted on 1 August and the eGovernment Steering Board was thereby formally established.
In his report to the Human Rights Council last June, the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of expression announced that he will be conducting a multi-year examination of freedom of expression and the private sector in the digital age. The project will start at the basic level of the digital expression infrastructure – the private entities that enable or facilitate access to telecommunications and Internet service.
From now on, locals in the capital city can access the website egov.hanoi.gov.vn to process administrative procedures such as registering a birth, death or marriage, and certifying copied documents in Vietnamese.
People’s Committees in wards and communes are in charge of receiving the requests and coordinating with authorised agencies in replying. The duration of processing a request is expected to be shortened from 20 days to five days, and will contribute to the preservation of citizens’ data online.
