Mobile connectivity is growing fast, particularly in the developing world, according to a report by the International Telecommunications Union, a United Nations agency. There were an estimated 4.1 billion mobile subscriptions worldwide by the end of 2008, compared to 1 billion in 2002, and the ITU reports that about one-fourth of the world's population uses the Internet.
