IBM has expanded its cloud computing facilities with a new data centre in South Korea and further plans to open more centres in countries including Hong Kong and New Zealand. The plans come as a result of rising demand for cloud computing across the Asia-Pacific region.
IBM has around 400 data centres and is believed to be spending a total of USD100m on these new projects. The Auckland, New Zealand centre is set to begin operations in 2010. The firm will invest USD57m in the data centre over the next 10 years. The Hong Kong centre will focus on development and services related to Lotus Live Messaging.
