A recent report published by Gartner, says the public sector spend on ICT this year would mean an increase of 4% since last year. The growth in local & regional government spend would be the lowest within the public sector with an expected spending rise of 1.7% which computes to an expected expenditure of $179 Billion in 2010.
However, at the national and supra-national levels, government spending is expected to rise by 2.9% to a total of $244 Billion in 2010.
Aside from the government sector, the utilities sector is expected to grow well too at about 4.7%. Gartner expects the total spend on ICT this year to surpass $2.4 trillion.
Recently, reports from Kable and Ovum in the UK, has also suggested increases in government spending on ICT especially in the outsourcing areas.
