Bahrain’s Mena Telecom, which launched a WiMAX wireless broadband network in November 2008, has announced that it has reached 56,000 active subscribers to the service, up from 33,000 at the beginning of this year. The company, which claimed to be the first in the world to launch a nationwide WiMAX 802.16e (mobile-ready) network, made an initial investment in its network of over USD100 million.
