The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt of India will be organizing a day-long workshop on the theme, “Citizen Centric e-Government”, in Mumbai, tomorrow in association with the Department of IT, Government of Maharashtra, and NASSCOM. This consultative meet is part of the 50 workshops being organised in all States and Union Territories (UTs) to amplify the mission and message of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) – ‘Public Services Closer Home’.
With many States in various stages of rolling out public services on the e-Government platform, the NeGP Apex Committee decided to create awareness about NeGP initiatives among the stakeholders, discuss challenges in delivery of e-Services, identify State-specific issues and understand emerging technologies from the industry. The string of workshops covers all State capitals, UTs and many other important cities.
The first workshop under this series was hosted in Delhi in July 2011 and the one in Mumbai tomorrow is the 28th in the series. The Mumbai workshop will be attended by key stakeholders of the NeGP from the Central and State Governments, e-Governance consultants, technology partners and implementing agencies.
NeGP, a key component of the Government's “inclusive growth” strategy, was approved by the Union Cabinet in May 2006. It aims to deliver public services to common citizens in their locality to make them both accessible and affordable.
