Ho Chi Minh will expand its e-government services this year, moving up to 50% of services online, the city government has announced.
All offices will have to lay out the required procedures for citizen services online, Tran Vĩnh Tuyen, the city’s Vice Chairman said, according to Vietnam News.
City offices are targeting to cut by half the number of delays in processing applications submitted by citizens. Offices that fail to do so will be penalised, it reports.
The city’s Department of Information and Communication will connect all city government websites and start using e-signatures, Tuyen added.
Last year, the city targeted 20% to 30% of firms registering new businesses online by October and aimed for all official documents to be available electronically. It also aimed to use video-conferencing to reach rural areas of the city, according to the Vietnam Economic Times.
Currently, the city provides 2,172 online services, allowing citizens to submit application forms, make payments, and check status updates with the government.
The city will improve its hotline services so citizens can submit their feedback on the digital services, Tuyen added.
