The Socialists and Democrats (S&D) Group in the European Parliament has appointed Estonian MEP Marju Lauristin as the rapporteur for the Report on the ePrivacy Regulation. She will prepare the Report on behalf of the Civil Liberties and Fundamental Rights (LIBE) Committee. Previously, she was a shadow rapporteur on the GDPR and the rapporteur on the directive on data protection in police and justice cooperation. LIBE is the lead committee on the dossier.
The Industry, Technology and Research (ITRE), Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) and the Legal Affairs (JURI) Committees will each provide an Opinion on the Regulation as well. These Opinions are non-binding. It is still unknown which MEPs political groups will appoint as rapporteurs for these Opinions.
For more information about the ePrivacy Regulation, it's impact, and the legislative process, IAB Europe has prepared an FAQ page on its website, available here.
