Google expands its fact-checking efforts by partnering with the International Fact-Checking Network

In Prague, there’s a popular website with a reputation among journalists and politicians for publishing content seemingly aimed at stirring up trouble or disrupting the status quo, exaggerating facts, and blasting out sensational headlines. Dramatic articles about the dangers of refugees and Islam pop up frequently on the site. Populist-leaning politicians quote its stories, and often grant interviews to its writers or author guest posts. Its content is frequently shared across social media.

Will smart city investment pay off?

Many governments are making investments in smart city technologies, but not all those bets will pay off.  That's according to a newly released Smart Cities Benefits Index, which ranks 50 cities based on their expected return on investment in smart city technology.

With its potential to galvanise economies, digital transformation is now high on the global agenda. OECD countries have set their objectives at the 2016 Cancún Ministerial on the Digital Economy. To maximise the benefits of digital transformation for innovation, growth and social prosperity, they are focusing efforts on the policy implications of the digital transformation, improving measurement, and developing an integrated policy framework for a whole‑of‑government approach. Despite good progress in the implementation of national digital strategies (NDSs) across the OECD co‑ordination remains a major challenge. Only few countries have charged a high‑level official or body dedicated to digital affairs with the co‑ordination of their NDS.
