What will tomorrow’s cities look like? Probably like Singapore. Siemens has teamed up with this city-state’s government to develop smart city concepts that could become models for the rest of the world.

The term “smart city” has become a buzzword – one that is not always used correctly. But if there’s one city that can undeniably be called smart, it’s Singapore. This 719 square kilometer island state of about 5.6 million people is vigorously promoting the digital transformation of its services to optimize the management of its infrastructures.

Project "Key Features for Smart City Charter Germany"

The project "Smart Cities - Development of an Urban Governance Framework" researches the effects of digitization on urban development and highlights the opportunities, risks and recommendations for German cities of the future. The study is carried out in cooperation with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and commissioned by the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR).

How the famous historic town of Kazimierz Dolny becomes smart

Only two hours from Warsaw and beautifully situated on the Vistula River, Kazimierz Dolny attracts over a million tourists a year. It has not changed much since the Renaissance, when it was a thriving grain-trading centre. Today it is a national heritage site, an art centre and the perfect place to get out into nature. The project shows that it is possible to introduce the latest technologies into a city with historical character, making it even safer and more welcoming for residents and visitors.

Study quantifies battery-electric bus environmental benefits
